It's You Chapter 13

"I'm so glad you're getting better, Hwa." JunSu said, sitting on my bed.
"It was only a small pneumothorax, remember? Anyway, I'm a fast healer," I replied, smiling at him from my new position of sitting up. It was mid-May, but I had healed "miraculously" fast, according to the doctor. It had hurt a bit, but now the pain had almost completely gone.
"Yea, you always were fast, even in speed," said JunSu.
I laughed a little, then winced. "Ouch, laughing hurts though."
"No worries though?"
"Nope. No worries." My brow wrinkled. "What happened though?"
"Aah," he said. "I was wondering when you'd ask. Well, you know I ran off and her two friends went after me right? Thank God I'm on the track team, or I'd have been killed by those two. Anyway, I got to the office but there was no one there, they were having some sort of meeting. SO I had to sprint to the meeting room, and I gatecrashed their meeting. Not nice having about 50 pairs of eyes staring at you." He smiled at the memory.
I nearly laughed, but remembered that it would hurt and decided not to.
"Anyway, when about 5 of them came out with me, the girls had disappeared so I guess they had gone to warn MinYoung. Had to run again. I swear, I should have gotten an award for running the most in school in one day. When I got to you they weren't even there, there was just MinYoung sitting down in the corner laughing to herself..." he trailed off.
"Then? What happened? Where was I?" I said softly.
"Are you sure you want to know?"
"Yes. I need to know."
"Okay." He paused again and closed his eyes. His breath whistled out and he opened his eyes. I laid a hand on his arm. He looked at me. "Okay. So she was there, giggling to herself in that crazy way, and looking at her hands. They... they were covered in your blood." He gulped and put his hand over mine. "When she saw me she jumped to her feet and stood in front of your body, like she was going to pounce at me. She was even snarling. Then she said that I couldn't go near you until you were dead. She was going to stay there until you stopped breathing. I could see you behind her. You looked... really bad."
"How bad?" I asked in a whisper.
"You really want to know? Your face was covered in blood, you were lying on the ground like a limp rag doll and your uniform was covered in blood. Considering how white our shirts are, I'm sure you can imagine how much it stood out."
"Wow, it was that bad?"
He gripped my hand suddenly. "It was terrible," he whispered. "And even though I managed to knock MinYoung to the ground, she was still fighting me and hitting you. Tried to scratch my eyes out while making sure she stepped on you. And when they finally dragged her away shrieking at the top of her voice that you were dead, I was cradling you. I hope you know that your blood is now all over my only good shirt. Had to throw it out and buy a new one."
I smiled at the last part. JunSu knew when to make a serious moment un-serious.
"You didn't even respond to me calling your name. You sort of opened your eyes but they were really unfocused. Then you were out again. Even when they were wheeling you away you were half concious, but you didn't even respond to the guy that was there with you."
"Who?"
"I can't remember his name, think it was Dong something. He was almost crying, poor guy. Looked like a uni kid. He was walking into the hospital when they brought you out of th ambulance. I was with you. He sort of screamed your name and didn't leave your side until you entered the operating theatre."
DongHae. He was actually there. Inwardly, I was smiling. He must have been visiting KyuHyun when they brought me in.
"As a matter of fact, neither did I."
I looked at JunSu and realised that he was smiling at me. "Thanks for being there for me, JunSu. I would've died if you weren't there." I thought back. "What were you doing there anyway? It was like the emptiest place in school."
"Just walking around, looking for trouble, that's my job," he replied easily. "Hey, you think they'll make me a prefect for this?"
"You want to be one?" I asked, surprised. "You always seemed like the uhh rebel."
"Nah, just my friends. They're getting annoying. Or maybe I'm just floating towards the goody-goody side."
I tried not to laugh again. At that moment, the curtain was drawn back. The nurse arrived, checking the chart at the end of my bed. "You have another visitor, Lee yong," she said before leaving. I cocked my head to one side. HyunJae and my parents had already come earlier, then left. Who else...?
A figure stood in the gap left by the nurse. I stared at him, and he looked up and grinned at me. JunSu looked between us for a while, then stood up. "Hello again," he said, pulling back the curtain wider. At once, a flurry of other figures fled to KyuHyun's bed, which was opposite mine. This time I couldn't hold in my laughter, then stopped short when I realised how painful it was.
"I guess I'd better get going, Hwa, have to make a break with my friends," said JunSu, turning to go.
"Be careful JunSu," I said. I knew how aggressive his friends could be sometimes.
"Don't worry, I will. Anyway, I'm the star runner in school, remember?"
"Still... thanks for visiting me anyway."
"Hey, someone had to tell you what happened when you were unconscious right?" He winked at me and left, tipping his head in DongHae's direction, who smiled and nodded back.

As soon as JunSu left the ward, 12 members of Super Junior flocked to my side like a magnet drawing pins.
"JaeHwa sshi...!"
"What a coincidence you two are in the same ward!"
"We missed you JaeHwa...!"
"Who did this to you?!"
"How could they do that to you!"
"We'll avenge you!"
"You look so much better!"
Everyone looked at HeeChul as he made the last comment. "What?!" he exclaimed. "You all stole my lines!" Everyone burst out laughing and I managed to chuckle.
"I feel so lonely now," called KyuHyun from the other side of the room.
"You're not important enough," said YeSung, laughing.
"Oh JaeHwaHwa, we were so worried when we heard," said SungMin, draping his arms around me. He was so adorable I felt like patting him on the head. Or something. I can't describe it.
"Yeah, we felt like going after the person who did it," said EunHyuk, as he hugged me. He looked so much better than what I had seen in the newspapers when he was discharged.
"In fact, SiWon, KangIn and HanKyung were all for going to your school and beating up the person who did it," said LeeTeuk, waiting for his turn to hug me.
"But the only ones that bruised would have been them, from the stampede of fan girls," smirked KiBum, standing beside DongHae.
"ShinDong was really bummed that you weren't there to beat him again," remarked RyeoWook as he hugged me shyly.
"Hey, I beat him!" declared SungMin, pouting like a little kid.
"Only because DongHae and EunHyuk pushed him over when you were racing him!" replied SiWon. I winced as he pulled away and concern was written all over his face. "Did I hurt you? I'm so sorry!"
KangIn laughed. "And I thought I was the strong one. Geez SiWonnie, can't even hug a girl without hurting her."
"No, it wasn't him!" I exclaimed as the laughter broke the noise barrier. Who cared though? I was having the most fun I'd had in weeks.
"Don't worry JaeHwa, DongHae would hug you all better," said KiBum, grinning widely, who received a surprised look from DongHae.
"Yea DongHae, come on!" the others exclaimed. He turned slightly red and walked forward slowly.
"Since when did you get shy?" remarked EunHyuk.
"Since when did you guys encourage this?" retorted DongHae. He sat on the bed beside me, looking up at the others.
"Since we realised how much you cared for her," said YeSung quietly.
"Don't worry hyung, we won't tell anyone!" came KyuHyun's voice suddenly.
"Even though we said some really bad things, mabe none of them will come true," said LeeTeuk. "We're really sorry if we hurt you, but you know we were just looking out for you."
"I know," said DongHae quietly. "I didn't want you to know in case you were questioned."
"Hell, we won't go to jail for knowing," said HeeChul. "Now give her a hug, since you were the one who caused her to be here."
"HEECHUL!" the others exclaimed exasparatedly. He sighed.
"Fine, I give up making jokes. You guys come up with your own from now on."
SiWon pulled him away and clapped a hand over his mouth. "Sorry about that, he doesn't know when to shut up," he explained cheerily.
DongHae turned to me. "I really am sorry, JaeHwa," he said, and I saw the pain in his eyes.
"It wasn't your fault, DongHae!" I said, convincing him to believe me.
"Yea, don't worry about it DongHae," said HanKyung. "Now hurry up, or KyuHyun's going to die of loneliness over there."
"I'm already dead," said KyuHyun. I cracked a smile and so did DongHae.
"I'm just really happy you're alright JaeHwa," he said, suddenly hugging me. The others fell silent, but I could see them smiling.
I hugged him back and closed my eyes. "The bracelet was beautiful, by the way," I whispered in his ear.
"Thanks, I got SungMin to help me pick it out, he really has an eye for those sort of things."
We pulled away.
"Even I didn't get to hug her," complained KyuHyun. The others laughed.
"Don't worry KyuHyun, when you can walk by yourself you can," said ShinDong. The others started leaving.
"Bye Jaehwa."
"Better keep getting better huh?"
"Don't let KyuHyun bring you down because he's been here longer."
"And don't worry if you hear someone talking at night, he just has this habit."
"HEY!"
"Just kidding, you know I love you KyuHyun."
The ward slowly grew quiet.
"Damn, it's so weird without them," remarked KyuHyun.
"I thought you could walk on your own..."
He winked at me. "No I can't. Can't dance either."
This time I laughed and the pain was gone.
